Zip and Unzip files with FTP client/Filezilla

As a Freelance Web Developer, I work on many hosting panels, I have to transfer sites from one server to another very frequently.

While doing this, I’ve faced a very common problem many times in last few years. Some hosting company doesn’t provide a rich file manager or in some cases client gives only ftp account details.

If I download all files once and upload to other server again using an FTP CLIENT like FileZilla, It requires lots of time. Because filezilla processes files one by one.

That’s why I started to find a solution to make the process faster and effective and finally I have a solution for both zip and unzip. Now I can zip and unzip files within seconds!

However, I know many people are looking for a similar solution and that’s why I am writing this post. You can follow the articles below to zip and unzip files using FileZilla:

How to Zip/Compress Files using Filezilla ?

How to Unzip/Extract Files using FileZilla ?

Please leave a comment if you have any questions.

Thank You

Even if free FTP software the cost to set it up and manage is too much. Binfer is an easier way to transfer files. See FTP replacement

    @ Lara

It’s look like Binfer is seeding big files to email account?
That’s not what we need here.

I need to se what is on server side.

Admins of Filezilla say: “Redacted link due to obvious and trivial security vulnerabilities in the provided scripts”

      Hi Brandon,
Its recommended to remove the script files after getting the job done. There’s no security risk if you delete the files after doing zip/unzip.

Works perfectly, it’s very useful, expecially when you are facing tasks like deploying moodle core files on servers that are accessible only by ftp.
